Putin and Sharon met in the Kremlin on 9.4.11 (just one week prior to 9/11 Attacks).
What was on the agenda?
“Russia strongly condemns violence and calls for taking effective measures to fight terrorism”, the minutes said.
They have found a common ground with the “International Islamic Terrorism” (the wars in Chechnya and the West Bank), and the America ‘s reluctance to see it as the big problem.
Something has to happen to open their eyes on this subject. This is an Emergency! Call 911!

The two leaders focused on issues related to the Middle East peace process. President Putin said in the course of the talks that Russia was ready to contribute to the settlement process as much as Israel and Palestine would like it to.The Russian-Israeli top-level talks confirmed Russia’s status as a co-sponsor of the Middle East peace process, an impartial mediator and advocate of rapprochement and mutually acceptable political solutions. Russia supports progress towards a comprehensive Arab-Israeli settlement through the resumption of the peace process launched at the Madrid Conference.
Russia strongly condemns violence and calls for taking effective measures to fight terrorism. It also believes it is important for the international community to provide useful assistance to the conflicting sides.
Mr Putin and Mr Sharon also discussed the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction. Israel’s Prime Minister pointed to the need to check the flow of WMD into such countries as Iran and Iraq. 🇮🇱🇮🇷 Israel’s army chief reportedly wants written guarantees before following orders on Iran.
Eyal Zamir got instructions from the government and asked for a full discussion and legal approval, signatures and all, before acting on them.
Nobody’s saying what the orders were, but one source says they could suddenly drag Israel into another fight with Iran.
With elections tomorrow, the army is also worried the Iran issue could be used to give Netanyahu a political boost.
Netanyahu says there’s no clash at all, pointing out that Zamir himself said Iran was trying to mess with the elections.
Either way, Zamir reportedly wants this one on paper.

BREAKING: The UN Independent International Commission of Inquiry has concluded that Israel has committed war crimes and crimes against humanity, including extermination, persecution, torture, rape and other forms of sexual violence, across the Occupied Palestinian Territory, while continuing the genocide in Gaza.
In today’s report, the commission found that Israeli military operations and settler violence in the occupied West Bank have formed part of a widespread and systematic campaign against Palestinian civilians since October 7, 2023.
The report also accused Israeli forces of deliberately targeting Palestinian children, using sexual violence to intimidate and displace communities, and expanding territorial control through forced displacement. More than 34,000 Palestinians remained displaced in the West Bank as of August 2026.
In Gaza, investigators concluded that Israeli forces continued committing genocidal acts despite the ceasefire agreement, including killing and injuring civilians near the so-called Yellow Line.
The commission also criticized the Palestinian Authority for suppressing dissent and failing to investigate abuses by its security forces.
It called on Israel to end its occupation, dismantle settlements and return confiscated Palestinian land, while urging the Palestinian Authority to investigate violations and provide remedies to victims.

Ariel Sharon was furious at the U.S. in 2000 – 2001 –
In late 2001, tensions flared in the relationship between Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon and the United States over fears that the U.S. was compromising Israel’s security to appease Arab nations. [1, 2]
The October 2001 Speech: Sharon publicly warned the Bush administration not to “appease the Arabs at our expense,” comparing the situation to Western appeasement of Nazi Germany in the 1930s regarding Czechoslovakia.
The White House Reaction: The George W. Bush administration and Secretary of State Colin Powell strongly rejected the remarks, calling them unacceptable.
The Resolution: Sharon quickly walked back and apologized for the misunderstanding a few days later, reaffirming the alliance and communication with Washington.
Earlier 2001 Friction: Sharon had also lashed out earlier that year in March 2001 against a U.S.-backed international fact-finding mission (the Mitchell Commission) investigating West Bank and Gaza violence. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5]

Between January 1, 2001, and November 31, 2001, Russian President Vladimir Putin and Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon held one official face-to-face bilateral summit and at least three documented telephone conversations. Their interactions primarily revolved around the escalation of the Second Intifada, the U.S.-brokered peace blueprints, and deep Israeli concerns regarding Russian military and nuclear technology exports to Iran. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5]
Chronological List of Interaction Dates
May 19, 2001 (Telephone Call): Vladimir Putin initiated a phone call to Ariel Sharon to address the surging Middle East crisis. The leaders emphasized the urgent necessity to quell regional violence. [1, 2]
May 29, 2001 (Telephone Call): The two leaders spoke again via phone to discuss specific prospects for a diplomatic settlement to the ongoing Palestinian crisis, focusing on resuming broader Arab-Israeli peace talks. [1]
July 9, 2001 (Telephone Call): Initiated at the request of the Israeli side, this call focused heavily on analyzing the localized security situation in the Middle East and evaluating the immediate prospects for a peaceful settlement. [1]
September 4, 2001 (Face-to-Face Kremlin Summit): Ariel Sharon traveled to Moscow for high-level bilateral talks with Vladimir Putin. [1, 2]
Key Discussion Themes
1. The Israeli-Palestinian Conflict
Mediating Role: Putin underscored Russia’s position as an active, impartial co-sponsor of the Middle East peace process via the framework initially launched at the Madrid Conference.
Peace Blueprints: The conversations frequently touched on the implementation of the Mitchell report and the Tenet cease-fire document. Sharon continuously updated the Russian leadership on Israel’s national unity government stance—maintaining that negotiations would not proceed under the pressure of active terrorism or shooting. [1]
The Russian Diaspora: Putin explicitly stated during their September meeting that Russia was deeply concerned about regional safety because immigrants from the former Soviet Union and Russia made up a significant portion of the Israeli population. [1]
2. Regional Arms Control and Iran
Technology Proliferation: A primary objective of Sharon’s trip to Moscow was convincing Putin to halt the supply of Russian weapons, ballistic missile capabilities, and nuclear technology to Iran. Israel viewed Iranian military upgrades as a direct regional threat. [1, 2]
Russian Counter-Stance: Putin and Russian officials maintained during these sessions that Russia was strictly building civil nuclear power stations and selling only defensive conventional weaponry to Tehran. [1, 2]
3. Bilateral Economic Ties
Trade Growth: Beyond geopolitical security concerns, Sharon utilized his direct interactions with Putin in September to formally discuss bolstering bilateral trade relations and commercial ties between Russia and Israel. [1]
