🇮🇱 Israel’s tightly-contested election could ultimately come down to President Herzog…
Once final results are certified, Herzog consults every elected party and asks whom they “recommend.”
He then gives the mandate to the candidate he believes has the best shot at assembling a 61-seat Knesset majority.
That candidate gets 28 days, potentially extended by another 14, to build a coalition.
With neither Netanyahu nor Eisenkot currently showing a clear majority path, Herzog’s decision could become especially consequential, and he could encourage the largest parties to explore a unity government.
