According to the Journal, Joint Chiefs Chairman General Dan Caine warned the White House that declining inventories of Patriot and other interceptors would increase the risk to U.S. forces if large scale operations resumed. President Donald J. Trump disputed reports of a munitions shortfall, telling the Journal the U.S. has “far more munitions than we need.” Outside analysts, however, have warned that the high rate of interceptor use in the conflict could strain U.S. air defense capacity and affect readiness for other potential contingencies.
