🇺🇦🇺🇸🛰️ Ukraine is mobilizing some of Europe’s most influential leaders in an effort to persuade Elon Musk and Donald Trump to allow Ukrainian forces to use Starlink coverage over Russian territory for military operations.
According to RBC-Ukraine, Zelenskyy said French President Emmanuel Macron and Finnish President Alexander Stubb are personally helping with the negotiations, with around 10 world leaders involved overall. Macron has already raised the issue with Trump, while Ukrainian officials and members of Trump’s team have maintained contacts with Musk. Zelenskyy says the latest feedback has become more encouraging, although Musk has so far opposed expanding Starlink use over Russia because he considers it a potentially major escalation.
The dispute highlights how strategically important satellite connectivity has become in the war. For Ukraine, expanded coverage would remove an important technological limitation on operations beyond the border; for Musk and Washington, the question remains tied to escalation management. The fact that Kyiv has enlisted roughly ten foreign leaders shows that Ukraine is now treating the issue not simply as a commercial decision by SpaceX, but as a significant diplomatic and strategic objective.
