Another channel between Berlin and Moscow is gone. That is what makes this dangerous. When diplomatic presence shrinks, the next incident is easier to misread and harder to contain. Harsh rhetoric does not help: Lavrov is already saying Germany is moving toward “a real war.” Am I the only one who thinks this is slipping out of hand?
