🇷🇺🇩🇪 Russian FM Lavrov said that Germany’s accusation Moscow was responsible for the Leipzig drone incident was “essentially the beginning of a real war.”
“All these statements by Merz about making Germany the leading military power in Europe once again… they are being put into practice.”
He also accused Germany of allowing the “metastases of Nazism” to reemerge.
Berlin announced last week that it believed Russia was responsible for the attempted drone attack at Leipzig/Halle Airport last month.
Russia dismissed it and accused Germany of planting evidence.

BIG | 🇩🇪🇺🇦🇷🇺‼️‼️ German Chancellor Friedrich Merz has sharply rejected the argument that Berlin could make itself safer from Russian hybrid attacks by abandoning Ukraine, calling the idea outright “stupidity.”
Merz pushed back against claims that ending German support for Kyiv might reduce threats such as the recent attack at Leipzig/Halle Airport. Germany has formally attributed that attempted drone attack to Russia and has reaffirmed that Ukraine can continue to rely on Berlin’s civilian and military assistance. The German government increasingly views such incidents as part of a broader Russian hybrid campaign aimed at intimidating European societies and weakening support for Ukraine.
Merz is right to reject the premise that appeasement would buy Europe security. Russia’s hybrid pressure is designed precisely to convince Western governments that supporting Ukraine carries unacceptable costs, and rewarding that strategy would only encourage further sabotage, cyber operations and attacks on critical infrastructure. Europe’s response has to move in the opposite direction by strengthening Ukraine while simultaneously hardening its own defenses and imposing real consequences on Moscow for operations conducted inside NATO territory.
