🇺🇦🇷🇺 BUDANOV: THE WAR IS BREAKING RUSSIA’S ILLUSION OF MILITARY INVULNERABILITY
Kyrylo Budanov says Russians are increasingly being forced to confront weaknesses in their own military and air-defence systems as the consequences of the war become harder to keep at a distance.
“The Russians are beginning to understand that their army is not that strong, that their air defense systems are not that good, and that the Russian army is actually not capable of protecting the temporarily occupied Ukrainian territory.
This is not at all the second army in the world, and not even the fourth. And the reckoning will come.” – Kyrylo Budanov 🇺🇦
For Budanov, the deeper shift is psychological.
“The understanding that there will be retribution comes to people when they personally begin to see and feel that the war is not somewhere in some part of the world, but on their own territory. Therefore, the turning point has already begun.”
His argument is that Russia’s strategic depth once helped insulate much of its population from the war Moscow launched. As that sense of distance erodes, so does the perception that Russia can wage war indefinitely without consequences reaching home.

Israeli opposition politicians said that Netanyahu was “unfit” for office after Haaretz reported he had been warned that Hamas was planning a major operation weeks before the Oct. 7, 2023, attack but did not alert security officials. trib.al/ihS4LDZ

🚨🇮🇱🇦🇪 Netanyahu is attempting to turn the Haaretz lawsuit into an election-interference charge…
Likud says the real scandal is foreign meddling, names a Palestinian official it says resides in the UAE as the man behind the paper’s October 7 warning story, and claims he wants a weak left-wing govt. so he can take Gaza.
The PM says journalist Shlomi Eldar was paid by a nonprofit tied to Yair Golan’s Democrats party, and it flags a secret UAE trip by Golan and Ronen Bar.
The party wants a criminal probe of Eldar, Ruth Yuvall, Haaretz, Golan, and the Democrats.
Who’s telling the truth??

Benjamin Netanyahu ignored an “explicit warning” in the lead-up to October 7th, according to the Israeli newspaper Haaretz. Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed, the President of the United Arab Emirates, called Netanyahu a week and a half before the attacks with a specific warning, the journalists Shlomi Eldar and Ruth Yuval report. They write that bin Zayed cautioned that Yahya Sinwar, Hamas’s leader in Gaza, was “preparing a major event” in the near future. Sinwar was quoted in the article as telling an official from the rival Fatah faction that he was planning a “zilzal”—an “earthquake.” Netanyahu seemed untroubled, a close adviser to the Emirati ruler told the journalists. He didn’t update the heads of Israel’s security establishment about the conversation. Instead, he assured bin Zayed that Israel was “prepared for any scenario.”
“Newsbreaks in Haaretz, a liberal paper with strong investigative reporting, are often met with silence by much of the country, or brushed off as leftist propaganda by Netanyahu and his mouthpieces in the media,” Ruth Margalit writes. “This story seemed to land differently.” Read about the Israeli public’s response to the report and what it could mean for the upcoming elections: newyorkermag.visitlink.me/N2…
