🇺🇦🇯🇵 Ukraine is running low on Patriot missiles, and now it’s asking Japan for help.
PM Sergii Koretskyi says there’s “one and only thing” Ukraine really wants from Tokyo right now: interceptor missiles to shoot down incoming attacks.
Japan actually makes Patriot interceptors under a U.S. license, so it could help refill Ukraine’s shrinking stockpile.
The problem is Japanese rules generally don’t allow weapons to be sent to countries currently at war.
Japan loosened some of those rules in April, but sending interceptors to Ukraine would still need approval from PM Sanae Takaichi.
Ukraine knows Japan has exactly what it needs… getting Tokyo to actually send it is the hard part.
