NATO massed roughly 25 aircraft near Russia’s Kaliningrad exclave on August 18, including US and Norwegian fighters, an AWACS, the rare EA-37B Compass Call electronic warfare aircraft, and Apache attack helicopters.
The package flew orbits over northeastern Poland focused on the electromagnetic environment around Kaliningrad.
NATO framed it as planned training for interoperability and deterrence, not a response to any specific Russian action.
The operation continued over subsequent days and was first flagged by OSINT flight trackers before official confirmation.

Fedorov’s upcoming trip to the US is a make-or-break moment where his actions will determine whether he reclaims his status as a key leader or permanently sidelines himself.
Every eye in Kyiv and across Ukraine’s supporter network will be watching his every move, and the path he chooses on American soil will dictate whether he has a future in Ukrainian politics.
Over the past seven years, Ukrainians and international partners genuinely admired Fedorov’s energy and vision.
However, he severely miscalculated when he started pushing for wartime elections, mistaking support for his reforms as backing for personal political drama. Holding fair, safe, and legal elections during a full-scale war is impossible, and his sudden shift looked like putting his own ambition ahead of national unity at the absolute worst time.
His planned trip to the US offers a clean slate if he uses it wisely. Securing funding for Ukrainian startups and persuading Elon Musk to remove Starlink restrictions inside Russia would provide a massive boost to Ukraine. Delivering those kinds of concrete wins would prove that he is still dedicated to the nation’s survival above all else.
The alternative path, however, would be complete self-sabotage. If he uses his US trip to go on podcasts to parrot talking points calling for elections in Kyiv, he will become a useful idiot for Ukraine’s enemies and directly undermine his own country. Doing that would instantly destroy seven years of hard work and permanently close the door on his political future back home.
It is not too late for Fedorov to choose the right side of history. He still possesses immense talent that Ukraine needs, but redemption requires him to work for the country rather than his own timeline. What he does in America will show everyone who he truly is
