UPDATE | Saudi Arabia, Turkey and Pakistan have signed the Mecca Joint Defence Agreement, turning yesterday’s expected deal into a formal trilateral defence pact.
The agreement states that an armed attack on any one of the three countries will be treated as an attack on all. It does not specify whether a military response would be automatic or what assistance each signatory would be required to provide.
The pact follows nearly a year of negotiations, so it was not improvised in response to this week’s Saudi security warning. Turkey says it is purely defensive and not aimed at any specific country; Riyadh says it is not linked to nuclear ambitions or an arms race.

FSB gets to control more and mor but what do the others say?
Desperate Putin launches crackdowns as he feels power slipping away. He’s handing the security service more and more authority to keep his grip, but the elite are worried the FSB is becoming completely out of control.Feels like the regime is really shaking now. What do you think happens next?
