🇰🇿🇷🇺 Kazakh President Tokayev spoke directly to Putin about the war in Ukraine.
He said young Russians and Ukrainians are dying, calling it damage to the “gene pool of the brotherly peoples,” and that the fighting must stop because it only helps their common enemies.
At the same time he made clear Kazakhstan still sees Russia as a great state and remains committed to strategic and allied relations, “however difficult it may be.”
That’s the tightrope Tokayev always walks, honest about the human cost, but careful not to break with Moscow.
