🇺🇦 Ukraine paid out over $1 billion for weapons that never showed up on the frontline.
Its main procurement agency logged 45.8 billion UAH ($1.07 billion) in overdue receivables as of January 1, 2026. The state paid, and the shells, drones, and armored vehicles never reached the units fighting for them.
Some of it was real damage, since Russian strikes last summer hit two big defense plants and froze billions in production.
But watchdogs say the agency made it worse by burying the problem, publishing lower figures and cutting off access to the data, which protected contractors who weren’t delivering.
Once the numbers were forced into the open, things moved. By late July the overdue amount was down to 14.6 billion UAH.
Amazing what an agency can accomplish once someone’s actually watching.

The Likud secretariat approves Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s decision, announced overnight, to grant guaranteed spots on the party’s electoral list to Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar and Defense Minister Israel Katz ahead of the primary later this month.
