In the first half of 2026, EU countries imported record volumes from Russia’s Yamal plant anyway: 136 cargoes, 9.97 million tons, up 16% year on year. More than 97% of Yamal’s output went straight to European ports. Russia is now building trans-shipment hubs at Murmansk and Kamchatka, an Arctic network engineered to keep exports moving once the ban actually bites. The molecule is rerouting.
