The missiles would be harder to intercept and could give air defenses less time to detect and respond to an incoming attack. Russian engineers are helping Iran with ramjet propulsion technology and analyzing data from flight tests. Iran has been trying to develop ramjet technology for years, and such a system could allow it to build faster missiles that are more difficult for Western air defenses to stop.
