Independent estimates and Russian claims exist, but they are not verified in the same way and vary widely. The Russian Ministry of Defence routinely issues its own (high) figures for Ukrainian losses, which are generally regarded as unreliable. These are primarily Russian losses according to the Ukrainian side always to be treated with some caution, as wartime reporting is partisan from both sides. Deputy Defense Secretary Steve Feinberg directed industry to propose faster delivery schedules, increased production and investments in new manufacturing capacity. The scale of the depletion is significant. The Pentagon says the U.S. has expended more than 850 Tomahawks, 1,000 Patriot/THAAD interceptors and 1,300 tactical ballistic missiles in the early stages of the war.
