The region is also home to 40% of Russia’s crude production, and the threats suggest a shift in how Kyiv is hitting Moscow where it hurts.

He says the whole thing is “a malicious fabrication,” and that checks of his calls and official records found no such contact in the weeks before the attack. He’s also dismissing a separate claim that Egypt warned him, saying that story was debunked long ago. He’s flipping the blame back onto the former Shin Bet and IDF chiefs, arguing they saw the warning signs in the hours before October 7 and failed to get them to him in time.
