🇺🇦⚡️ Volodymyr Zelensky is pushing back against the increasingly personal attacks on Ukraine’s military leadership, arguing that criticism of commanders should not erase their battlefield achievements.
🗣️ “Maybe someone dislikes Syrskyi for one reason or another. But slogans like ‘Syrskyi is the devil’ and ‘Khmara is the devil’… what comes next? ‘Budanov is the devil’? This has gone too far,” Zelensky said. He acknowledged that Oleksandr Syrskyi faced legitimate questions, including over the controversy surrounding the Skala Regiment, and said such issues required a response. But Zelensky also pointed to Syrskyi’s record, highlighting the defense of Kyiv, the Kharkiv operation and the Kursk operation as major achievements.
Zelensky also defended former Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov’s record, despite their increasingly public political disagreement, emphasizing that Fedorov achieved significant successes, particularly in digitalization and military technology. The broader message is clear: Ukraine can debate mistakes and hold commanders accountable, but turning wartime military leadership into targets of blanket vilification risks replacing serious scrutiny with political tribalism at precisely the moment when the country needs institutional stability.
