Ukraine found its bottleneck  and now it may have found its fix.   The FP‑5 Flamingo has long relied on aging Soviet AI‑25 engines, a supply shrinking faster than Russia’s fuel reserves. New reports suggest Ukraine is now integrating British‑made turbojet engines into the latest variants.
This means:
higher production rates
reduced dependence on Soviet leftovers
long‑term sustainability for Ukraine’s long‑range strike program

Flamingo already proved Ukraine can build precision long‑range missiles capable of hitting deep inside Russia. With new engines, production can shift from “limited batches” to steady industrial output.

Defense observers see this as a meaningful step toward expanded domestic manufacturing capacity — exactly what Ukraine needs as demand for long‑range capability keeps rising.
Soviet engines: “We’re done.”   Ukraine: “Great, we’ll take British ones.”   Russia: “This feels… concerning.”

🚨🇺🇸🇺🇦 The United States is pushing ahead with plans to localize Patriot missile production for Ukraine. Despite reported reservations from President Donald Trump, negotiations on expanding Ukraine’s role in the Patriot program are continuing.

According to Reuters, one of the leading proposals would see Patriot components manufactured in Ukraine, with final assembly taking place in European countries, including Germany.

The talks are being led by U.S. Ambassador to NATO Matthew Whitaker, who visited Kyiv last month to discuss potential cooperation with Ukrainian officials and representatives of the country’s defense industry.

Several options are currently under consideration:

▪️ Manufacturing Patriot components in Ukraine before sending them to Germany for final assembly;

▪️ Integrating Ukraine into the existing U.S.-European Patriot missile production program;

▪️ Granting Kyiv permission to produce a lower-cost version of the PAC-3 interceptor.

Even if an agreement is reached, Reuters reports that Ukraine is unlikely to receive newly produced Patriot interceptors for at least another year, and possibly longer, reflecting the time required to expand production and establish the necessary industrial capacity.

The negotiations highlight a broader shift toward integrating Ukraine into the Western defense industrial base, aiming to strengthen both its long-term air defense capabilities and Europe’s collective defense production.
