Bahrain and Fujairah in the UAE have traditionally been key ports for US carriers to rest and resupply, but both are within range of Iranian missiles. Diego Garcia is roughly 4,000 km from Iran, putting it farther out of Iran’s reach. However Iran still has the capability to strike the island.
