Benjamin Netanyahu ignored an “explicit warning” in the lead-up to October 7th, according to the Israeli newspaper Haaretz. Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed, the President of the United Arab Emirates, called Netanyahu a week and a half before the attacks with a specific warning, the journalists Shlomi Eldar and Ruth Yuval report. They write that bin Zayed cautioned that Yahya Sinwar, Hamas’s leader in Gaza, was “preparing a major event” in the near future. Sinwar was quoted in the article as telling an official from the rival Fatah faction that he was planning a “zilzal”—an “earthquake.” Netanyahu seemed untroubled, a close adviser to the Emirati ruler told the journalists. He didn’t update the heads of Israel’s security establishment about the conversation. Instead, he assured bin Zayed that Israel was “prepared for any scenario.”

🚨🇺🇦🇳🇴 Zelensky says Ukraine and nine European partners are moving forward with the FREYJA anti-ballistic missile program, designed to create an integrated European defense against aerial and ballistic threats.
Together with Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre, Zelensky met executives from FirePoint, Kongsberg, Weibel, Saab, Diehl Defence, Hensoldt, Thales, Safran, Sener and Leonardo. Ukraine, Denmark, France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Norway, Spain, Sweden and the United Kingdom are involved in the initiative. Zelensky said governments and industry have now agreed on what each side must do and that the first practical results are expected.
🔥 FREYJA could become one of Europe’s most ambitious air-defense projects if it moves from coordination into real production and deployment. For Ukraine, the value is obvious: combining Ukrainian combat experience with Europe’s radar, sensor and missile industries could eventually create a much deeper and more sustainable layer of ballistic-missile defense.
