The Russian Embassy in the United Kingdom issued the warning after British media discussed hypothetical scenarios involving a future Russia-NATO conflict and Kaliningrad. The debate included possible attempts to blockade the Russian exclave or challenge Moscow’s control over it. The scenarios discussed in the British media were hypothetical, and there is no indication that NATO is preparing an attack on Kaliningrad.
Moscow’s response shows how quickly any potential confrontation involving Kaliningrad could acquire a nuclear dimension. By explicitly introducing nuclear weapons into its response to hypothetical NATO action, Russia is signaling that it considers the exclave a particularly sensitive red line in any future confrontation with the Alliance.
