Putin said Russia’s pause begins at midnight Moscow time, but there is still no public indication that Moscow moved on the fundamental issues.
The Kremlin’s territorial demands remain unchanged, and Putin told the Americans only that he has “full trust” in U.S. mediation.
Now Witkoff and Kushner are expected in Kyiv on Sunday. ‼️‼️🇪🇺🇷🇺 BIG | NATO planners are increasingly worried that Europe may not be politically or militarily prepared to sustain a prolonged war with Russia, even as Moscow continues testing the continent through military pressure and hybrid operations.
According to The Guardian, sources close to NATO planning describe growing “military pessimism” about Europe’s ability to withstand a long conflict with Russia. The concerns are being driven in part by the growing popularity of right-wing and Russia-friendly political forces in several European countries, alongside Washington’s rapid reduction of support for the U.S. military presence and broader security commitments on the continent.
Europe has spent years warning about the Russian threat while moving far too slowly on the capabilities needed to survive a major war. Higher defense budgets are important, but they mean little without ammunition stockpiles, industrial-scale production, trained manpower, resilient infrastructure and political unity. With Washington becoming less reliable under Trump and Russia continuing to probe NATO through sabotage, cyber operations and drone incidents, European governments have less room than ever to postpone serious military preparation.
